The name "Winona
Shops" was a term commonly used to refer to the Chicago &
Northwestern engine facility in Winona, Minnesota during the years of
maximum productivity, from 1900 until around 1955. The "Winona Shops" was
a major rebuilding and maintainance site for the steam engines and
cars of the Chicago and Northwestern railroad.
